Bloody Ring Sidequest
The Bloody Ring Sidequest is an optional sequence of events in Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly and Fatal Frame: Deep Crimson Butterfly, which begins in Chapter 2 and ends in Chapter 5. It involves further investigation into the fates of Masumi Makimura and Miyako Sudo. The sidequest has no effect on the game's outcome or ending, but it does help you complete the spirit list.
Chapter Two
- Take a picture of Miyako’s ghost standing in the back room of the Osaka House.
- Pick up the documents where she is standing. These documents are the first paragraphs of Village Reports 1-4; each one names a place in the Lost Village that Masumi investigated.
- Village Report 1 can be found at the base of the stairs leading to the entrance of the Kureha Shrine. Mio finds it by checking the statues to the left of the lone pinwheel. After obtaining it, snap a picture of Masumi’s ghost, Statue Checker.
- Village Report 2 is obtained by searching the well in front of the Storehouse. After picking it up, take a picture of Masumi’s ghost, Well Checker.
- Village Report 3 is found by checking the door of the Kureha Shrine. Masumi's ghost, Man at Shrine, will appear only if Mio does not open the door to the shrine.
- Village Report 4 can be obtained by checking the Torii gate at the top of Misono Hill. Again, Masumi's ghost, Gate Checker, will appear.
- Village Report 5 is obtained instantaneously once the other four are found. The reports may be picked up in any order; Village Report 5 will always be obtained upon picking up the last of the other four.
Chapter Four
- Check the storeroom in the Kurosawa House Great Hall to find Masumi’s ghost, Exhausted Man, and the Bloody Ring.
Chapter Five
- Assuming Mio has the bloody ring, a scene which gives more detail about the fates of Masumi and Miyako will play upon entering the back room of the Osaka house. Mio may then pick up Masumi's Bloody Memo and Sard. Afterwards, the ghosts of Masumi and Miyako, Unrest in Piece and the Wanderer, will attack.
- Upon completion of the battle Mio adds the memo Miyako's End to her notes.
