Together once more, Mio and Mayu begin to search for a way out of Kurosawa House. Mayu is acting strangely; she keeps mumbling about rituals and sacrifices, and in the Grand Hall she is drawn to the place where Mio saw the bloodstained girl laughing.
The twins find their way to the cell where Seijiro Makabe was once imprisoned, and hidden in a candle-stick they discover a key that will unlock the door in the basement, as well as a map. However, as they start to leave, the door to the cell slams shut, leaving Mayu trapped. Mio thinks she knows where to find the key to the door, but Mayu begs her not to leave. Mio hesitates, recalling the time when Mayu was injured; she still feels responsible for the accident and wants to stay by Mayu's side, but knows she must find the key. As she turns away, she hears Mayu murmuring the words of Sae Kurosawa: "Dear sister, are you leaving me again?"

Extra
- There is an Easter egg in the Great Hall. If you photograph Mayu, she will appear to be surrounded by hands reaching for her.
- When you approach the door to the Master's Room in the Partition Screen Room, a voice will begin to speak about the Mourners. If you enter the room while the voice is still speaking, a Veiled Priest will attack, but if you wait you can avoid this fight.
Misc. Info
- While going back through the courtyard staircase, as you turn the first corner towards the stairs, Mayu will comment, "It's raining... cold..." In the English version, she barely audibly says, "It's cold..." and this dialogue is, unlike the Japanese version, without subtitles.
- In Deep Crimson Butterfly, this chapter is titled "The Hidden Ceremony".
