The Shadowspring Tale
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
They say on Mt. Hikami:
"The Shadowspring is here,
but it is on the other side."
It is a curious saying. It must mean that the spring is both of this world and yet not of this world.
The Black Water flows from the Shadowspring. Within it lies the underworld itself.
For centuries the shrine maidens have protected the Shadowspring, believing it to be a bridge between worlds.
Tales abound of such bridges.
Are there people all over the country protecting these bridges as Mt. Hikami does, by drowning shrine maidens?
Perhaps Ose Kurosawa, the last Immortal Flower, was one such sacrifice.
