Everything here has an aura. In the woods, one can feel not only the animals and trees; the water itself has an energy.
I understand now. The water is alive. "We are born from water and to water we return." "The water connects us all."
Perhaps the shrine maidens with their well-honed senses perceive this aura, and lead the people to a proper death.
Here, in this place,
I am not alone.

静かで清らかな水の流れ。
生命力に満ちた霧。
あらゆるものは気配を持つ。
この森では、生き物や木々だけでなく、
水にも気配を感じる。
水そのものが御神体であると言う
巫女社の人々の言葉がわかる気がする。
「水から生まれて水に帰る」
「すべては水でつながっている」
日上山の巫女は、研ぎ澄まされた感覚で
この気配を感じ取り、巫女社の人々を
正しき死に導いているのだろう。
この空気に包まれていると、孤独を忘れる。
