Pure Water

Pure water (御澄, misumi) is a term that appears in Fatal Frame V. It refers to the state in which the water that flows across Mount Hikami is pure and clean. This state was carefully maintained in the past as the residents believed water to be an object of worship, containing the spirit of a god, though the teaching continued long afterwards, even when the mountain was being turned into a tourist hotspot. Old tales speak of another type of water, in contrast to the pure and beautiful misumi, that is impure and filled with death. This is known as black water.
