Chitose Tachibana is a ghost in Fatal Frame II. She is the younger sister of Itsuki and Mutsuki Tachibana.
Background

Chitose was a timid girl with poor eyesight,[2] and had a habit of hiding in the closet whenever she was scared, especially when strangers came to the house.[3] She was very close to her brothers, and a new spirit list entry in Fatal Frame: Deep Crimson Butterfly shows the three siblings spending time together in the Twins' Room[4] and watching film reels.[5]
After Itsuki and Mutsuki took part in the Crimson Sacrifice Ritual, Chitose didn't understand where Mutsuki had gone or why Itsuki's hair had turned white, although she sensed Itsuki's sadness.[2] Later, Itsuki took her to the Old Tree where Mutsuki was enshrined.[6] At some point after the ceremony, Itsuki gave Chitose a bell to wear on her wrist, so he would know if she went somewhere dangerous.[2]
When Itsuki's childhood friend Ryozo Munakata arrived at the village with Seijiro Makabe, Itsuki was confined to the Storehouse, but before his imprisonment he gave Chitose the key to his room and told her to give it to his friend. Chitose was proud to be given such an important job, but when Ryozo came to the house, she was too frightened to speak to him, and hid instead.[7][8]
On the night of Sae and Yae's ceremony, Itsuki tried to help them escape, and was locked up in the Storehouse again as punishment. Chitose blamed Yae for Itsuki's imprisonment.[9]
During the Repentance, Chitose hid, and escaped the massacre that followed.[3] However, she was unable to leave her hiding place[10] and died in the cupboard, leaving the word "help" (タスケテ, tasukete) scrawled all over the walls.
Fatal Frame II/Deep Crimson Butterfly
Like other ghosts in the village, Chitose mistakes Mio for Yae, and attacks her, demanding the return of Itsuki. Mio follows the sound of Chitose's bell to discover her hiding places around the house, and after several battles, Chitose drops the key to Itsuki's room.
Alternate Ending

In the Promise Ending, available in the Xbox and Wii versions of the game, Chitose can be seen in between her two brothers, looking up at the sky as the crimson butterflies fly away from the village.

Misc. Info
- Chitose's butterfly kimono can be seen on an early production render of twin shrine maidens.
- During fights, Chitose has a special attack that causes the room to turn completely dark for several seconds.
- The cupboard Chitose crawls out of for the final battle has the words "Help me" scrawled all over the inner walls. An Easter Egg in the Tachibana House traps the player in a closet where the same words appear on the walls and can be seen in viewfinder mode.
