Minakami Cemetery

Kanji 皆神墓地 (みなかみ ぼち)
Game Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly
Fatal Frame: Deep Crimson Butterfly
Located at Minakami Village
Function Cemetery
Status Destroyed/cursed by the Repentance

This cemetery is the where the families of Minakami Village buried their deceased. It is also where they would go to honor their deceased ancestors, as practised in the Japanese belief system. Inside the cemetery are rows of gravestones and family tombs. In the original game and Deep Crimson Butterfly, two paths connect the cemetery to Minakami Village. The first comes down from Misono Hill, and the second path is accessed via the Old Tree.

The 2026 remake changes the cemetery significantly. At the beginning of the game it is inaccessible as the suspension bridge across Tomonaki River is missing, and can only be restored in Chapter 6 using a file photo and the Exposure filter. The river also cuts off the main section of the cemetery from the Old Tree. The cemetery itself has also been expanded significantly, and now features two large family graves for the Kiryu and Tachibana families. At the back of the plot, a high fence and boarded-up gate would once have led to the Abandoned Graveyard and Umbral Mound, but during the game the only way to reach these areas is via the Old Tree.
