Serizawa is a minor character in Fatal Frame III. Her full name is not known, and the name 'Serizawa' was created for the English translation and is not mentioned in the original Japanese. She was a woman who suffered from the Tattooed Curse in the late Edo/early Meiji period, and her doctor recorded his interviews with her on a gramophone.[1] Kei later has the audio restored and transfers the recording to two tapes, marked "Manor of Sleep Recordings: Case A" and "B".
Background
Shortly after her mother's death, Serizawa started to dream about the Manor of Sleep. She described seeing what looked like a funeral procession heading towards an old shrine inside the manor. In this procession, she saw her mother. She called out to her but received no response. Her mother continued with the others towards the old shrine and just before the door to the shrine was about to close behind the procession, Serizawa entered as well. She only went in a little way, believing that if she went too far she wouldn't be able to go back. All she wanted to do was see her mother.
Every night after that, Serizawa would have the same dream about the manor. Every time she woke up from the dream her tattoo spread and the pain she felt increased. Although her fate is not revealed in the game, it is safe to assume she succumbed to the Manor of Sleep's curse.
