Fatal Frame III Endings

Fatal Frame III has two endings. Unlike previous Fatal Frame games, the extra ending must be unlocked by fulfilling certain requirements through the Echo Stone Earring sidequest.

Although this ending has not been confirmed as canon within the series, Makoto Shibata has stated on Twitter[1] and in an interview included in the Zero Shisei no Koe Complete Official Capture Book[2] that game staff considered this to be the true ending.
