Tattoo Altar Kanji 刺青の祭壇 （しせい　の　さいだん） Game Fatal Frame III: The Tormented Located at Kuze Shrine Function Lowering mechanism, shrine for skins of failed Tattooed Priestesses Status Sealed inside a dream

The Tattoo Altar, also known as the stone shrine, (鎮メ石ノ祠, shizume ishi no hokora) is a room in the Manor of Sleep. It can only be accessed via a door in the Blind Room, where the family head could watch over it. Four Purity Stones, representing the four Handmaidens, are placed on the altar. If a priestess was unable to sleep, her tattooed skin would be stripped from her and enshrined in the Tattoo Altar, where the Handmaiden's Song would subdue the pain.

The Hanging Prison could be lowered down into this room using the mechanism on the altar, to help ease the pain of a Tattooed Priestess. Once the four Purity Stones were placed in the correct order, the cage would be raised up.

Ghosts Encountered

• Reika Kuze - locked inside the cage hanging above the altar.
• Amane Kuze - appears here saying, "Save the two."
• Yashuu Kuze - attacks after Miku raises the cage and attempts to leave.

Misc Info

• The torn-off skins of two priestesses are enshrined on either side of the altar.
