The Twins' Ceremony is a non-fatal version of the Crimson Sacrifice Ritual practiced by other villages in the Chūbu region around Minakami Village. It involves the concept of Twin Deification. This ceremony is mentioned in Fatal Frame III in a folklore book Miku finds concerning regional ceremonies. The ceremony deifies twins born in the village as priestesses.

The Ritual

When twins of a village reach a particular age (usually 15 years), they are dressed in white and tied together by a red cord. It is thought that this red cord joins the twins symbolically causing them to become 'one'. It is thought that when the twins become one, they have the power of the gods. The twins then conduct a séance (神降ろし, kamioroshi).

Result
