Tsumugi Katashina, voiced by Natsumi Takamori, is a character in Fatal Frame V. After her mother remarried, she was frozen out by the family and emotionally abused. By contrast, her older half-sister is raised with love and kindness, which drives a wedge between them. She especially hates her voice, since it is like her mother's, so she keeps silent. After a failed suicide attempt, she meets Ayane, who gives her a special bracelet that will connect them.
Tsumugi goes to Mount Hikami meaning to end her life. At the request of her doctor, Hisoka Kurosawa begins an investigation into her disappearance, but Tsumugi's family ask her to cease her efforts. Ayane comes searching for her instead, tracks her to the Shrine of the Ephemeral and rescues her just as she is about to fall into the depths of the black water. They escape the spirits pursuing them, and Ayane encourages Tsumugi to go on loving her family and be strong, and everything will turn out all right.
