The Hall of Fire is a building in the Unfathomable Forest on Mount Hikami that appears in Fatal Frame V. It was the place where the Flamekeepers would watch over the Forbidden Flame, a sacred fire that was the sole thing with the ability to dry out and cleanse Black Water, from which Purifying Embers were made. The Firekeepers would guard the flame, making sure that it did not go out. In the main hall is an altar, with the Forbidden Flame enshrined in the centre of the room, and stacks of firewood against the walls. Reliquaries would be made, and painted with ink made of black water, in the casket room on the second floor.
At the time of Ose Kurosawa's ritual, Kyozo Kururugi slaughtered everyone on the mountain, including the Flamekeepers inside the hall. The building mysteriously vanished, leaving Casket Marsh in its place. During the game, the building reappears during Chapter 10, dilapidated and partially-destroyed, and can be explored by Ren Hojo.
Ghosts Encountered
- Flamekeepers - attack Ren during Chapter 10 upon picking up a document
Misc. Info
- Casket Marsh's Japanese name is read "hitsugi", just like the name of the hall, but using different kanji.
