Unable to resist Shiragiku's spirit, Ren is dragged towards her casket, where she seizes him and pulls him in. Once more in the form of the child from Shiragiku's memories, he finds that they are in the hidden space beneath the shrine steps on Mount Kagiroi, where Shiragiku and her friend used to play. She hugs him, asking him to stay there with her forever. She remembers meeting him on the mountain path beneath the cherry blossoms. Since she was set apart even from the other Children of the Shrine, she was always alone, but now they will be together forever, both unable to die.

Abruptly Shiragiku has a change of heart. As the scene returns to their hiding-place, she pushes Ren/Kunihiko away. As an Immortal Flower, she must exist forever, but she pushes Ren out, telling him he should die - a long time from now.

He finds himself on the real Mount Kagiroi, outside the old shrine where he also used to play as a child. Even in those days it was abandoned, retaining no trace of the past.
