As Ren reaches out to Glance Ose, he is possessed by the spirit of Dr. Kunihiko Asou, who embraces her. After he witnessed the black water inundating the mountain, he feared he would never see her again. When Ose again asks him to end it with her, he says he meant to all along, and confesses his love for her.
Upon hearing the words at last, Ose puts her arms around him, regaining her pure, untainted appearance. She explains that even though she knew his feelings from reading his mind, she always wanted to hear them out loud, and express her own feelings in return. Since her true desire was to be with him in life, not death, being able to confess aloud is enough, and her spirit begins to fade. A moment later she is gone, and Asou is left weeping and alone. His spirit departs, leaving Ren with tears still falling from his eyes as if they were his own. All that remains is a slight shimmering in the air before him.
