Miu and Miku walk side by side through the Lake of the Departed. Miku explains how she felt about her brother, and how she wanted to be with him. Miu says that she has never had anybody she cared about enough to follow them into the underworld, and she always wondered why, but now she has come to terms with it. As she says it, the light changes, and she looks up to find they are standing beneath the eternal sunset on the border to the other world. Miku, looking up at it, smiles for the first time.
Miu seizes her arm and begs her not to leave. Miku takes her hand, promising she's not going anywhere, but Miu knows this is a lie, and Miku has already left the world. The person Miu brought back was only a lingering trace, on the point of disappearing. Miku's image fades, leaving Miu in tears, alone beneath the sunset.
