Miu and Miku walk side by side through the Lake of the Departed. Miku explains how she felt about her brother, and how she wanted to be with him. Miu says that she has never had anybody she cared about enough to follow them into the underworld, and she always wondered why, but now she has come to terms with it. As she says it, the light changes, and when she looks up she finds they are standing beneath the eternal sunset on the border to the other world. Miku, looking up at it, smiles for the first time.
Miu seizes her arm and begs her not to leave. Miku takes her hand, promising she's not going anywhere, and together they watch the sunset for a while.
Miu wakes suddenly in the spare room of Kurosawa Antiques Shop. As if expecting to find herself alone, she turns quickly to look at the other side of the bed, but sees Miku is still there, asleep. Relieved, Miu lies back down with one hand resting on Miku's arm, and Miku stays with Miu for what little time remains to her.
