The House of Joining in Fatal Frame V is the location where Ghost Marriages were carried out. It has an altar room where wedding pictures are enshrined, rooms where the bride and bridegroom could prepare themselves for the ceremony, a feasting hall and a courtyard garden where higanbana grow. The place was said to be in a rift between the human realm and the Netherworld,[1] where the spirits of shrine maidens who had already been made into pillars inside a casket would appear for a short time, just long enough to be chosen for marriage by a man led there. No one but invited visitors would be able to enter or even find it.
