Mount Kagiroi

Mount Kagiroi Kanji 陽炎山 Game Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water Located at Near Mount Hikami Function Mountain Status Still extant

Mount Kagiroi is a mountain near Mount Hikami in Fatal Frame V. In the past, both mountains shared the same religious beliefs, and suitable candidates were sent to Mount Hikami to become sacrifices. Mount Kagiroi was unusual in that it used children as shrine maidens, as it was believed that a child belonged to the gods until the age of seven.

Dr. Kunihiko Asou grew up near Mount Kagiroi, and befriended one of the mountain's young shrine maidens, Shiragiku. Ren Hojo also spent time there as a child.

• The mountain's name means 'heat haze'.
• The forest clearing location on Mt. Kagiroi, where Shiragiku is seen entering the Casket, is actually an edited version of Misono Hill from Fatal Frame: Deep Crimson Butterfly. A video exploring this area can be seen here.
