The Abyss of the Horizon is a vast sea separating the land of the living and the land of the dead. It is located in the mountains behind the Kuze Shrine. It is here where the spirits of the dead cross over to the "Other World" or "Other Side," i.e. the afterlife.[1] [2] [3]

- Miku conceives her daughter, Miu, during a brief meeting with the dead.

Misc. Info
- The scene of lanterns floating on the Abyss of the Horizon is similar to toro-nagashi or 'lantern floating', which is done at the end of Obon. It is a way to send the visiting spirits back to the spirit world.
