In this chapter, Kei is finally able to open the double doors in the Spirit Tree Garden. Behind them, he finds an old shrine in a courtyard, the whole area sealed inside an enormous wooden structure. The Miasma inside is released to fill the whole manor, requiring Kei and the others to collect special candles to avoid attracting dangerous ghosts.

Kei follows the spirit of a man in a blue kimono onto the roof of the Engraving Shrine, and finds a way inside, to where the ritual is performed. Doors at the back lead even deeper into the shrine, but they are sealed. As Kei tries to leave, he is attacked by two Engravers. When they have been defeated, he returns to the shrine courtyard, and Rei wakes up.

That evening, Rei hears Miku singing the Handmaiden's Song again. Miku says she is sure her brother is calling to her from inside the shrine.
